Steph Cohen

Stephanie is an artist and surgery resident at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School.  She earned her B.S. in Biochemistry from Tufts University and B.F.A. in Studio Art from The School of the Museum of Fine Arts prior to medical school.

Her work ranges from whimsical anatomical abstractions and visual puns to detail oriented medical illustrations for scientific publications. Her work has been published in JAMA Surgery, the AMA Journal of Ethics, World Neurosurgery, The Journal of Electrocardiology,  and The Journal of Global Health. She also illustrated an American Board of Surgery In Training Examination (ABSITE) review textbook and designed the covers for six oral surgery board review textbooks.

Her research interests include medical student and resident education, a well as projects in patient education aimed to improve healthcare literacy of surgical patients through visual communication.
