Steph, originally from Chicago, has been infatuated with science and art from an early age. She moved to Boston in 2012 to dual enroll at Tufts University and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She worked as an emergency medical technician throughout college and graduated with a B.S. in Biochemistry from Tufts and B.F.A. with focuses in ceramics and illustration with a minor in art history at SMFA in 2016. She will earn her MD in 2020 and intends to pursue residency in general surgery.
Art and Design experience includes 2 years interning at the Harvard University's Department of Ceramics, journal cover design for The Journal of Global Health and World Neurosurgery, surgical illustrations published in Annals of Surgical Oncology, and work on the Boston Public School Project mural in Boston's city hall.
Steph is extremely passionate about improving health disparities and healthcare literacy, and believes that using art in patient care can enhance patients' understanding of their disease processes. She hopes to continue to develop her skills in illustration and to conduct surgical educational research while training to be a compassionate and competent surgeon.
